ABOUT | PEOPLE

Helen McCormick

Helen McCormick is Founder and President of The House, Inc.  At a time when teen audiences tend to evolve faster than adults can catch up, its network of initiatives propel Helen's narrative to place power in the hands of students in the Washington, DC region since its founding in 2005. Among chaos, delays, and indecision, she launches social justice movements that are impossible to ignore, to inject humanity into the polarizing debates of our time, and bring her students and society to a much closer understanding of each other.  She serves both realism and optimism that captivates ally work to bring choice filled outcomes to pre-teens and teens.

In her role as President, Helen has been the subject in the Washington Times, Washington Post, SUCCESS Magazine and CNN. She is a recipient of the DC Working Women of The Year award, and former President Obama named her The White House Daily Champion of Change.

Our SYMBOL

The Roof

The roof represents a cover from the elements.  In a broader sense, a roof is the symbol of an idea of a place of refuge, offering a sense of security and belonging.  The roof is a shield from harm or external dangers.  The roof represents boundaries and upper limits of one’s aspirations or potential. Just as a roof caps a building, it marks the highest point one can achieve.
